Book binding workshop

No a takto sme spolu tvorili.

I have been having a strange feeling for few months. I am missing the time. The time for lying, reading a magazine, having a nap (although, in fact, I have never done that, but I would like to), the time for writing here more and regularly.
Thanks to my friend I could take part in an interesting workshop in October, just after coming back from London. I was in a book-binder atelier, Mrs. Mlíchová´s Atelier where we learnt how to make our own book or a notebook.
Mrs.Mlíchová is a well known name in Žilina. Her book-bindery moved from Horný Val to Rosenfeld Palace. It´s a very exceptional place which keeps on Ján Vrtílek´s art work. He was Mrs. Mlíchová´s father and he made artistic book binding in the second half of the 20th century. This familial tradition started in 1928 and you can read more even in English here.
Luckily, the worhshop wasn´t overcrowded. The space there was extremely inspiring and there was an agreeable atmosphere. Not only we made our own book/notebook, but Mrs. Mlíchová told us lots of interesting things about books and their bindings.
I have got quite a lot of old books at home, so this day gave me an inspiration to look closely at my old books and their bindings. Here are some photos from the workshop, too. Just for you :-)
